"The child, for the full and harmonious development of his personality, needs love and understanding." From Declarations of the Right of the Child, part of Principle 6.
Children's Day is a universal celebration to raise the consciousness that not all children have access to their most basic needs or sees their rights respected. The day varies from country to country, but the purpose is the same. It was established in 1954 by the UN general assembly. In 1959 UN adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child (https://undocs.org/A/RES/1386%20(XIV)) and in 1989, the Convention on the Rights of the Child (https://undocs.org/A/RES/44/25). Unicef was created in the aftermath of Worl War II as a response to all children in need of basic care, as food and health care.
Children have the right to a safe, caring environment, should it be at home, school, or any other place. Only this way they will be able to develop all their potential and give back wonders. Happy children will make a happy world!
More and more I come to believe that education has a major role to improve the future of humankind. Through an education system that is emphatic on ethics, creativity, responsibility, and respect for the precious uniqueness of each individual, an auspicious path lies before us, as humanity. Every child should have access to education, and education should aim to help them become the poets all of us were born to be and fulfill themselves (from Agostinho da Silva, Portuguese Philosopher).
It seems intangible, but that doesn't mean we should give up and accept the wrongs in our world. I share the vision of Freddie Mercury and John Lennon, and truly believe that this could be heaven for everyone, just imagine all the people living life in peace.
